Kyle Costello

Today’s guest is my friend, Kyle Costello. Kyle is a pastor and a church planter who planted a church in Utah several years ago and most recently, just planted Refuge Church Ojai in the gorgeous Ojai Valley in Ca. In this episode, we talk briefly about Kyle’s upbringing in the Mormon faith, why he and his family have planted a church and how he’s seen God move through church planting.

Church Planting (The Orchard Group) – we didn’t necessarily talk about The Orchard Group, but I’m linking here in the event you want more info on the Ojai church plant or other church plants that may be in your area.

Here’s a quote by Kyle that served me as such a great reminder that God is not afraid the hard stuff and places like we can be so often:

“God looks at the hardest places and goes, that’s where we’re going now.”

Here are a few ways Kyle suggests we can participate:

  • Pray – “most churches in their first 15 years, see more people come to Jesus than in their next 50.”

  • Support – give financially to church planting orgs/churches, write notes of encouragement to church planters

  • Respond to how God is prompting you, even if it what you believe God is speaking to you sounds crazy. “As much as you are on mission, you are the mission. The gospel doesn’t make sense. But it’s the wisdom of God.”

I love that Kyle wrapped up this episode by reminding us of the relentlessly and endless mercy of God. May you know his unending mercy in your life, friend.
